U-SPARC

USDA NIFA program (2017-2022) to broaden awareness of plant science-related career options and support research experiences for UCR undergraduates

Dynamic Genome

Introductory undergraduate biology lab that integrates real research projects designed by UCR faculty. Our past Course-Based Undergraduate Research (CURE) projects for Dynamic Genome include:

  • analysis of strigolactone biosynthesis and signaling genes in a draft cowpea genome
  • CRISPR-Cas9-based reverse genetic screen for suppressors of the Arabidopsis kuf1 mutant (detailed approach published here)
  • site-directed mutagenesis of D14 residues that may mediate protein-protein interactions
  • isolation of Arabidopsis transgenic lines in the background of specific strigolactone or KAR/KL signaling mutations
