Dave Nelson joined the Department of Botany and Plant Sciences at the University of California, Riverside in 2016, after five years with the Genetics department at the University of Georgia. He previously earned his PhD in Genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006, and held postdoctoral research positions at the University of Western Australia and the Carnegie Institution for Science.
Caitlin Conn joined the lab in 2013 as a graduate student in the Genetics department at UGA. She is investigating how seeds of parasitic plants sense and respond to strigolactone signals produced by a host.
Aashima Khosla is a postdoctoral researcher who joined the lab in January 2016. She earned her PhD in Biochemistry from Kansas State University in 2015 with Kathrin Schrick. She is now searching for the endogenous signal that the karrikin receptor KAI2 recognizes.
Qing-Tian Li joined the lab at UCR in February 2016 as a postdoctoral researcher. Qing-Tian is studying how SMXL proteins function.
Nick Morffy joined the lab in 2014 as a graduate student in the Genetics department at UGA. Nick is studying how SMAX1/SMXL protein complexes control gene expression.
Claudia Sepulveda is a recent graduate of UCR who started a Jr Specialist position in November 2016.
Jiameng Zheng joined the lab at UCR in November 2016 as a postdoctoral researcher. Jiameng is studying how SMXL proteins function.
Undergraduate Researchers
Mei Cai is a freshmen at UCR who joined us through the Dynamic Genome program. She is using genome editing approaches to study karrikin-responsive genes.
